Why do you make your art?

I have been creating art for last five years in particular, art has helped reconnect with myself. It has allowed and opened a way for a lot of self healing and understanding. I have lived a life of complexities and struggle with PTSD at times. I create to bring joy to others and a message of hope through colour and pretty images. We live in a time filled with negative driven concepts and imagery. I. Want to promote joy and happiness, give light to a world that is very dark. Also to show strength that in the face of adversity, there can be something beautiful.

How do you make your art?

I make through a vast array of techniques, I really love using mixed media, and I love trying something new. I like to make my art surrealist, with real elements but different colours and concepts. I just really love doing and exploring new exciting things.

What does it mean to you?

Art means a since of freedom. It is an escape into a world where you can see exactly what you like. My art means hope to me, making something in the world that might speak to others. It also encourages people to challenge their own ideals, if a small time country girl can do it so can you.

What inspires you?

I am inspired mostly by the world around me, I find all the joy and beauty in the world I live in. I am a nature enthusiast and I love how nothing is ever the same. My horse and the animals I love also inspire a lot of that world. Animals have this peace and need nothing but the world they live for. This amazing gratefulness, which I love.

Who inspires you?

I am inspired by my family, and friends. I am also greatly inspired by a few of the great. Claude Monet, his philosophy and love how he captures nature. Vincent van Gogh, an his bravery in the art world, and courageous spirit is something I look too as well, I love the way he captures colours and tone. Thomas Kinkade, is my most admired, his capture of light and paintings that heighten ones thinking, just make me wonder and I can’t help but marvel at his work. Closer to home Kathy Ellem is my mentor and I think what she has done is just amazing.
