Artists of the Outback Creative] Catherine Clark Dowden
I have so many influencing people, artists ,teachers in my journey so far. My amazing family ,especially my husband who have supported me to enable me to “have-a-go”.....local artists Rosemary Payne and Irene Coburn, more famous artists like Darcy Doyle, and Banksy and about 700 other artists that I am in ore of!!
My best source of inspiration is Outside , whether at home, at the beach ,overseas or just visiting . Also following Inspiring people on Social media .
The difficult subjects would have to be people....to try and capture someone’s character, personality and spirit can be very tricky!
On Top of the World
I think it’s usually the challenge of something new or something really hard that makes me start a painting, the excitement of creating an image that is unique and learning in the process. Knowing when it’s finished is a challenge in itself!..it’s very easy to over-do an image, sometimes I just have to walk away and leave it for a week and then review with fresh eyes...and hopefully think......”yep...that works!
I think I’m most proud of ‘A Quiet Moment’- there is just something about the painting that stops me in my tracks every time I walk past it . It’s like a calm comes over me , hence the name ...I sometimes look at it and think “Wow,I did that!”
A Quiet Moment
My most important tool...I would be lost without my big
,old draftsman’s easel that looks a bit like a dalek from Dr Who but is
so good to work at.
I would like to become a better artist,I don’t think you can ever stop learning and I hope in a couple of years I can look back and see how much I have developed as an artist and a person. And being a sort-after artist would be a nice bonus
