Regular price $0.00 $800.00

This is an oil painting on a custom-made wood panel mounted on a black wooden frame.  Felt pads have been attached to the back corners to protect your wall.  D-rings and wire have also been attached, making it ready to hang on your wall. The wood grain has been incorporated in the painting.   This painting comes with its unique story and a certificate of authenticity.

This is a scene I would usually see regularly on route from Melbourne to Geelong to visit family. Each time I whiz past this scene I can’t help but be transfixed to this site no matter what time of day or year.

This was painted during a lockdown period. Restrictions increased and with it so too has uncertainty. How long will we have restrictions imposed? When will we be able to have a day trip? Visit family? Work? When I saw this sky outside my window and photos and paintings of the You Yangs around me, I felt these two scenes merge, much like my feelings. I try to be upbeat and hopeful, but at the same time I also feel gloomy and wonder when our life will return to a sense of “normality” again. Will we take the opportunity to improve outcomes for the vulnerable and minority among us? I hope so, I hope so.

The name 'You Yang' comes from the Aboriginal words 'Wurdi Youang' or 'Ude Youang' meaning big mountain in the middle of a plain.

If you would like to see more photos please let me know.

COMMISSION REQUESTS: If you would like something similar, but in a different size or colours or framing options, I would be happy to discuss with you.
