If you like the framing in the photo above, please advise the very friendly team at Outback Creative, and I can arrange this for you without delay. The extra cost is $140. The external dimensions would be 43cm x 53cm x 2cm.Framing consists of an oyster finish timber frame, glass, acid-free mount, foamboard backing and with the certificate of authenticity attached to the back.
This is the third in my series of Waratah studies this Spring. This painting shows the bud fairly open. The large petals are in fact floral bracts that surround the centre of the waratah which consists of up to 240 individual little crimson flowers.
I am making the most of my beautiful fresh waratahs whilst I can, as nothing lasts forever, especially cut flowers. This year I am really taking notice of their life cycle and will be painting different stages of this beautiful bloom in this current series.
The Waratah (Telopea) is also the state emblem for New South Wales and is mainly found in south-eastern Australia. There are 5 species and more broadly, the waratah fits into the larger Protea family.
Please visit again to see buds, more mature blooms and also seed pods.
I love to paint all things to do with nature, especially flowers, and continually check my work to see if it connects with my soul, as I hope it will connect with yours! My aim is for my paintings to make you feel happy!
